FAA Fuel Supervisor Safety Training
Our Fuel Supervisor Training Program meets and/or exceeds the requirements of 14 CFR 139.321(e)(1) for biannual fuel supervisor training, and has been found “acceptable to the administrator” for both initial and recurrent training as per the most recent edition of Advisory Circular 150/5230-4B (and Addendum).
The Fuel Supervisor Training Program can be delivered in 10-hour or 16-hour formats, depending on the needs of the students. Both classes cover all topics required by both Part 139 and AC 150/5230-4B, including bonding, public protection, access control, fire safety in fuel farm and storage areas, fire safety in mobile fuelers, fueling pits, and fueling cabinets, and applicable fire codes. Students will also discuss and examine how to manage, motivate and train employees.
Upon conclusion of the classroom/lecture/discussion portion of the class, students will perform inspections of mobile fuel vehicles and fuel facilities, applying the lessons that they have learned in the class. In compliance with the 2012 revision to AC 150/5230-4B, students will also participate in fire extinguisher training, discharging actual fire extinguishers on real fire.
Per-student price is $350, with discounts for classes with more than five students. Classes are generally scheduled on-demand, and usually conducted at your airport with your fueling equipment. A certificate good for 24 calendar months (with proper verbiage per the Advisory Circular) will be presented upon successful completion of the class.
Line Personnel Fueler Training
The Line Personnel Fueler Training program meets the annual training requirements of 14 CFR 139.321(e)(2) and Advisory Circular 105/5230-4B. The Line Personnel Fueler program can also be delivered in 8- or 16-hour formats, depending on the needs and number of the student(s). The class covers bonding, public protection, access control, fire safety in fuel farm and storage areas, fire safety in mobile fuelers, fueling pits, and fueling cabinets, and applicable fire codes. The class does not cover specific fueling procedures for specific aircraft. Like the Supervisor class, in compliance with the 2012 revision to Advisory Circular 150/5230-4B, students will each participate in fire extinguisher training, discharging actual fire extinguishers on real fire.
Per student price is $225, with discounts for classes with more than five students. Classes are generally scheduled on-demand, and usually conducted at your airport with your fueling equipment. A certificate (with proper verbiage per the Advisory Circular) will be presented upon successful completion of the class.
Fuel Inspector Training Program
Although 14 CFR 139.321(d) requires airport operators to inspect fuel facilities and equipment every three consecutive calendar months, we find that the staff performing those inspections are not aware of the many fire code requirements regarding fueling operations and how they apply to the aviation world. To meet the needs of airport operators, we offer a Fuel Inspector training program.
The Fuel Inspector training program is 8-10 hours in length, and is preferably taught at your airport. The class focuses heavily on the requirements of NFPA 407, Standard for Aircraft Fuel Servicing, as well as the many other documents referenced by NFPA 407 (NFPA 30, API 1529, ATA 103, state fire codes, etc). The classroom portion of the program examines the regulatory requirements, overview of the fire codes, safe fueling operations, and inspection procedures for fixed facilities and fueling vehicles.
During the practical portion of the class, we will inspect fuel facilities at your airport – fixed sites and mobile fuelers – for compliance with NFPA 407 and other applicable codes. An experienced fuel inspector will accompany the students throughout the inspections, not only to look for discrepancies, but to point out areas where other fuel facilities have commonly had issues. Each student will receive their own copy of NFPA 407 to use in the class and for post-class inspections in the field.
Per student price is $450. Classes are generally scheduled on demand, and are preferably conducted at your airport with your fueling equipment. A certificate will be presented upon successful completion of the class.
